About the Founder
“I built the tools I wish I had when I was an educator.”
Hi, I’m Chey! Founder of Divergent Education and the creator behind EduBuddy.
I started my journey in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) as a trainee back in 2011. Like so many in this sector, I fell in love with the work, the moments of wonder, the power of play, the relationships we build with families and children that leave lasting imprints.
But over time, the weight of systemic challenges, the endless documentation, the understaffing, the compliance pressure...took its toll. In 2021, I experienced burnout and made the difficult decision to step away from the sector.
Coming back was a wake-up call.
I saw that things hadn’t improved—if anything, they’d gotten harder. The ECEC workforce was stretched thin, educators were still taking work home unpaid, and our leaders were running on empty trying to hold everything together.
There was passion - but not enough support.
That’s why I created edubuddy.
What started as a simple way to help educators find the answers they needed to do their job safely has now grown into a full-scale platform, community, and support system. EduBuddy was designed to take the pressure off your paperwork, but it’s grown into something even greater: a tool that empowers the whole team—trainees to directors—with the practical, regulatory and emotional support they need to do high-quality work sustainably.

Edubuddy is a response to the workforce crisis, accessible information, a mentor, and a compass rolled into one. It gives educators time back. It nurtures confidence in new Educators and lightens the load for experienced staff.
Most importantly, it helps bring passion, health, and purpose back into our sector.
